Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is an empowered choice to step out of a pattern that is no longer working and to embrace something new. We often don’t have control over outcomes, but we do have choices about how we approach life and the challenges it throws at us.
But sometimes we get stuck on autopilot, just trying to get through one day after another. It can be hard to know which direction to go, especially if you are struggling.
Here are some of the reasons
people start therapy with me:
Feeling anxious and trying to control things
Having the same thoughts over and over
Feeling down, sad, lonely or hopeless
Having trouble with relationships (partners, friends, family)
Experiencing something disturbing or traumatic
Unhappy with work or career, lacking a sense of purpose
Trouble holding boundaries and/or caretaking of others instead of yourself
Excessive eating, drinking, working, shopping, spending money or having sex
Experiencing loss whether of a loved one, a change in a relationship or work, a medical diagnosis, or identity
Emotions feeling out of control or being too reactive
Avoiding things you need or want to do, such as tasks, taking action, being social, having relationships, changing jobs, keeping your living environment clean
Whatever you’re dealing with, you deserve
to live life fully.
Living life fully means being aware of what you’re experiencing
as it’s happening.
It means living in the present, not being caught in regrets about the past or being worried about the future.
It means embracing life as a constantly unfolding, imperfect process. It means making choices that help you connect to what is important to you.
You can’t control the outcome, but you always have choices, even if the only choice is to learn how to live with something that feels impossible.
None of this is easy.
Stress and anxiety can fuel worry about getting through the day-to-day challenges of work, parenting, relationships, finances, health concerns or what’s going on in the world.
Doubts can give too much weight to a harsh inner critic, be concerned about what others think or fixate on a decision you regret.
You may not be aware of how much of what you’re thinking or the choices you are making is based on what you learned in the past but is no longer working for you. Therapy can help you get clarity.
Whatever you are dealing with, knowing your capabilities and what really matters to you—your “why”— can make all the difference. And you don’t have to do it alone.
