Hi, I’m Michele.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist, my focus is helping you create a life that expresses the fullness of who you are.
Few of us come equipped with the roadmap to do this. Using my skills and experience, I can guide you to create a more meaningful relationship with yourself, the people in your life and the world around you.
MY approach is modern,
integrative and
focused on you.
I am trained in EMDR, the Trauma Resiliency Model, relational Gestalt therapy, ego state therapy, mindfulness and compassion practices and art therapy. I am fully present and listen closely, while working actively with what is happening in the session. By helping you to notice what is happening in your body and between us, I help you go beyond just talking to work on a deeper level.
I was initially drawn to this work through my belief in the creative process as a powerful tool for healing and a desire to reduce suffering. After earning a Masters Degree specializing in Clinical Art Therapy and working with clients from all walks of life, my focus expanded to include the profound scope of trauma.
We all need love and connection, safety and trust and this makes us vulnerable to the traumas of life.
Sometimes it is difficult to recognize that what has happened to you has left such an enduring mark. While the scar may always be there, the pain does not have to be. Trauma has been a part of my life, too, but like many people, I did not recognize it for what it was. In my work with clients, I bring an understanding and compassion for the difficulties we encounter and a conviction that with understanding, connection, and effective treatment, there is an alternative to suffering.
Healing can take the form of reducing anxiety and stress while learning to live with equilibrium in the midst of constant change. It can also be responding more skillfully when painful emotions or moods arise. It can be learning how to improve our relationships with others or to learn how to trust again.
In a culture geared toward achievement and comparison, it can be figuring out how to reduce self-criticism and harmful patterns of behavior, and increase self-compassion and acceptance of the things that cannot be changed.
It can be hard to do this work alone. It would be my honor and privilege to partner with you to bring about what healing means to you.
